2 Samuel 7-8; 1 Chronicles 17; Psalm 132; Acts 25

by Faith Brady

“Thus says the Lord: Would you build me a house to dwell in? I have not lived in a house since the day I brought up the people of Israel from Egypt to this day, but I have been moving about in a tent for my dwelling.” 2 Samuel 7:5-6

We cannot put God in a box.  He is too big, too mighty to be held to one place.  We think of the church building as the House of God.  It’s not.  It is a place where we come to worship God.  Where we gather to learn about God and to teach others about God but it is not His residence.

He resides in His beloved.  Those who have given themselves to Him. Everywhere you go, God goes with you.  1 Corinthians 6:19 “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,”.

When I was growing up you dressed up to go to church, you didn’t run at church or eat/drink in the worship area.  It was to teach us reverence for the place, to make it different from anywhere else.  It was.  We forget that when we leave the building the “church” is just moving into the community.  I saw a Tshirt once that said “The church has left the building.”  It was at an outdoor event that Journey was hosting for families.  It was true.  It is true every week when we walk through the doors of the church to go home.  Keep that in mind and that will change your weekdays.  It might just change you.  🗓️🫵🫶
