Matthew 5 contains the beginning of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, where he delivers teachings and moral guidelines to his disciples and the crowd gathered around him. The chapter includes the famous Beatitudes, a series of blessings for the humble and merciful, as well as teachings on anger, adultery, love for enemies, and various other ethical and spiritual principles.
The most important sermon ever spoken was 12 minutes long. It emphasized love, mercy, and humility through prayer, fasting, and acknowledging God’s love for others as well as ourselves.
The Beatitudes explain the blessings of those who are humble, and righteous.
As you read the Beatitudes today, I encourage you to focus on how we can use these words spoken so many years ago today.
