Joel, Matthew 10

Jesus give authority to his disciples to heal, and restore, and teach, but also warns them to be careful of what this power will bring with it.  He tells them to be on guard. To be a shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

He knew how they would be treated, just as well as He knew how He would be treated.  His message was, do the right thing, even when it causes you pain.  When it would be easier to follow the world, we should follow Him.

In the Old Testament, the book of Esther, Mordecai took his own life in his hand when he told the king of the plans to assassinate him, by telling Queen Esther, but Mordecai, saved many lives including his own when he chose to do the right thing.

I pray today for the eyes to see what is right, for the heart to want to do the right thing, and for the courage to do the right thing just as the disciples and Mordecai did—without a second thought.
