”Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the Lord, and humility comes before honor.” Prov 15:33
It can be hard pill to swallow for those who don’t fear the the Lord. Honor without humility is pride.
Think for a moment of some of the most honorable men in the Bible. They were also the most humble.
Joesph- gave God the credit for Pharaoh’s peace, and for using the evil his brothers meant for him to lift Joseph up.
David-cried out the Lord, “Who am I?”
Paul-explained that, try as he might, he was nothing without God.
Humility and weakness are not synonymous. We must not underestimate God’s power in our humility. It is only when we humble ourselves can the honor of our works in Christ be recognized by God and others.
My prayer today is that we all understand the power of our humility, and the honor that only it can bring.
Please continue to pray for our church and its leaders.
