2 Chronicles 28; 2 Kings 17; Psalm 66; 1 Corinthians 7
“They worshiped the Lord, but they also appointed all sorts of their own people to officiate for them as priests in the shrines at the high places.”
2 Kings 17:32 NIV
Living in this world and living the life God commands us to can certainly cause conflict. Living the ways of this world is often less confrontational. It’s easier to not rock the boat. But is it really? Jesus said, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Matthew 16:26)
It is impossible to live the way God commands, while we tag along with the ways of the world.
Media, social and otherwise, has made it clear to all of us that if it feels good do it, or if you think it, it’s the truth. And it’s ok to say it as well.
2 Kings doesn’t tell us why the people were worshipping God, but also kept their other gods. It seems they were following the crowd. One thing is for certain, they couldn’t, and we can’t live both ways and please God. The enemy loves to watch us try. Even he knows if we aren’t fully committed to live for God, we most certainly are living for him.
