Jeremiah 8-10; 2 Corinthians 11

“If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭30‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Boast of my weakness?  Tell of my fears? Share my sins?  Really!?!

Because in this “dog eat dog” world we live in, we are constantly reminded that only the strongest survive, so why would I boast of my weakness?

Paul says it all here, and also in chapter 12- “in my weakness” is where the power of Christ is found.

In my doubt in myself, comes my reliance on Christ.  In my darkest hour, is where His light shines the brightest.

The Corinthians had fallen  hard for the prideful boasting of the church leaders.  They boasted of their accomplishments, while Paul said, “I will boast of my trials, and my sins, and the horrible places I have been held and tortured so that you will know that the real strength isn’t mine, but Christ’s.”

Prayerfully, we may never be held in physical chains, and flogged, but aren’t we in those very chains when we are prideful?

While the ways of this world tell us it’s not ok to be weak, or confused, or vulnerable, a simple song reminds us that it is-“they are weak but He is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me.  Yes, Jesus loves me. The Bible tells me so.”

I encourage you to fill your heart and mind with those lyrics, and find your strength in the word.

How can we pray for you today?
