1 Samuel 9-10; Acts 8

Saul was minding his business, and his father’s business, when 3 donkeys were just gone. In my simplistic mind, I’m thinking. “ it’s 3 donkeys.  What’s the big deal?”  Why send your son into who knows where for 3 donkeys?

It was a big deal!  On one hand, in Biblical terms, a donkey was akin to today’s pick-up.  They were used for travel, hauling, pulling. They were important animals.

On the other hand, God used those missing donkeys for His plan.  To have Samuel anoint  Saul as the king the people had asked for.

When we find ourselves in situations that we didn’t intend to be in, or  plans for our day only to have them totally changed by circumstances beyond our control, it can be annoying, and inconvenient.  When all we can focus on is how the plan change has disrupted something else, we may miss opportunities that come from those changes.  Chances to change our lives or even someone else’s life.

Lord, Your plan is better than mine. Forgive me when I focus on what I think I’m missing by out of the ordinary changes, and help me focus on what You want me to see.  In Jesus precious name. Amen.
