Hosea 1-3; Matthew 16

“He replied, “When evening comes, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,’ and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The Pharisees want Jesus to “show them a sign”, but Jesus had already performed miracles.  As a matter of fact, it was the Pharisees who condemned Jesus for healing on the Sabbath.   They already had the answer they were searching for, so why ask Him again?  Did they really need confirmation?  Or were they looking for the  answer that fit their agenda?

Oh, how guilty I am of this!   I have made the request, and received my answer.  Yet, I continue to ask/request. I don’t need confirmation. I need to accept what I already know.

Like the Pharisees, it’s easy for me to see the signs I want to see, but begin to question when I have my own agenda.

Opening the eyes of my heart to receive the signs I am given is not always comfortable.  And staying the course of those answers when they don’t really match my agenda can be a challenge.

Today I pray we see the signs, accept them without question, and stay the course of those answers.
