Ezekiel 31-33; John 11

“Jesus wept.” John‬ ‭11‬:‭35‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The story of Lazarus is another story of how Jesus suffered here on earth for US.

Jesus loves Lazarus and his sisters Mary and Martha.  The last thing He wanted was for his friends to suffer through sickness and grief.  But the outcome was more important than the suffering.

He could have healed Lazarus.  He could gone to him and made him well. But that could have been explained away.  Jesus could been there, and immediately raised Lazarus from the dead, but that, also, may have been able to be explained.

When Jesus arrived, Lazarus had been sealed in a tomb for 4 days, People had come from miles to mourn with Lazarus’ family.  People were wailing and mourning, and Jesus wept.

Jesus didn’t weep for Lazarus death.  He knew it wasn’t final. But He wept for the sorrow the living were going through.  The people were in anguish, and Jesus felt it all.

This is just one of the times the Jesus felt other people’s pain.

Is there anything we could ever be but grateful for the pain that Jesus endured for our benefit.  So that the family and friends of Lazarus would believe.  So that we might have eternal life?

Thank You Jesus, for Your love and willingness to suffer with us.
