Judges 17-18; Psalm 21; Acts 1
by Becky Hill Martin
“Why are you standing here staring into Heaven?” I can imagine all the disciples watching Jesus ascend to Heaven with their mouths hanging open, wondering what just happened. I’m not sure how long they stood there, but it was long enough for two angels to shoo them away (Acts 1:11).
God sent the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8) to fill us. We have the power. He charged us to be His witnesses. If we’re standing around, looking at the sky, waiting for Jesus to return, we’re doing it wrong.
PRAYER: Father, today You’re asking, “Why are you just standing there?” When I feel stalled, help me:
- Witness to others
- Walk a holy, distinctive life
- Work with a Heavenly purpose
