Genesis 24-25; Psalm 4; Mark 9
Listen and Learn
Peter exclaimed, “Rabbi, it’s wonderful for us to be here! Let’s make three shelters as memorials—one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” (Mark 9:5)
We see in Genesis 24 God orchestrating the Abrahamic lineage with Isaac and directing the affairs connected to His covenant promises from Genesis 12 and 15. In Psalm 4 the psalmist proclaims our safety is in God.
Plainly stated: God is in control.
So we would do well to listen when He speaks and learn how to function in obedience to what He says. Peter is like many, quick to speak. While Peter was focused on being “here,” Jesus’ focus was on “going” and spreading the Gospel. James enlists us to be quick to listen, slow to speak (James 1:19). But listen to what? The answer is the words of God, that when received are able to save our souls (James 1:21).
Lord, help us to value Your word, and not be as Esau who’s value system was bad and despised his birthright. Help us to Listen and Learn from Jesus.

January 13, 2023 at 7:08 pmWhatever happens in life, God is in control. And I need to let myself really understand that.. I feel like things in my life get out of control and I want to get the control back… but reality is… I don’t ever have control of it. God does and he is putting me where I need to be, even if I don’t know what’s ahead.
