2 Samuel 15-17; Psalm 3, 63; Romans 1

16 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. 17 This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.” (Romans 1:16-17)

The Good News is that by believing Christ we are granted saving power. It is this believing in Jesus that we receive a new position before God: righteousness. We have right standing with God due to Jesus receiving for us what we should have received for our sin.

How is this done? By Faith.

Often we have the faith to receive salvation but do not allow that same faith to accomplish the fuller work of changing how we live. Paul understood that he would not only be bold and not ashamed of saving faith, but also he would be bold in living out his faith. (let me clarify, bold does not mean outward aggression, but it is the inner reality of trust)* The same faith that Jesus has saved us is the same faith we must live in daily as we face fears and our vulnerabilities.

LORD, it isn’t always easy to see how we can trust You when the deck seems stacked against us. The struggle is real, but Praise the LORD that You are just as real! Help us to live out our faith with the inner peace that Jesus is fighting on our behalf the same way He slayed sin on the cross. We love You, Amen.
