1 Kings 1; 1 Chronicles 26-28; Romans 6

20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. 21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:20-23)

We know we can not serve two masters, but often we do not recognize we were made to serve. The difficulty is that sin has placed us in a mindset that we should be “served” and not be “servants.” JESUS came to serve and give His life as a ransom to make available salvation to all who believe in Him.

This topic of sin makes many uncomfortable for comparative reasons. What do I mean by “comparative?” Well, we may say that, “I am not as bad as so and so.” What we are doing is natural comparing, but we all must deal with sin in a non-comparative way.

My point: JESUS died so we can serve Him and have all that His grace has apportioned for us. The gift of GOD is eternal life, so we get what we do not deserve and do not get what we do deserve because of our sin.

As you read this, remember to daily unwrap the gift in your heart and mind that you have eternal life as a blood bought believer in CHRIST and you are no longer a slave to sin.
