2 Kings 13-14; 2 Chronicles 25; Psalm 53; Matthew 12

39 But Jesus replied, “Only an evil, adulterous generation would demand a miraculous sign; but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40 For as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights. (Matthew 12.39-40)

LORD, just show me a sign and that’s all I need. Have you ever said that? I have. When I read the above verses I am reminded of my desire for JESUS to prove Himself to me. What I wanted and what GOD intended did not have to match up, for He is King and I am servant.

I once asked GOD why He didn’t split the Red Sea again (not knowing at this time He did split another body of water later for Joshua) and the response was: “Kevin, is once not enough…if they didn’t believe the first time, the second time they wouldn’t either.

JESUS’ authority rested in the reality that He is GOD in the flesh. The sign that would be and has been given is the power to lay down His life for all humanity and then pick that life back up again. Praise the LORD! That’s the sign we need and it points us back to GOD and the relationship we must have through CHRIST.

Do you have a relationship, or are you still waiting for a sign? Maybe you have heaven made but not much else, are you waiting for a sign to take your walk with GOD a bit more seriously? Maybe you have a big decision and you are waiting for a sign or something…trust GOD and who JESUS is, the sign of the cross, burial, and resurrection is the sign of all time. Commit or re-commit to seeing and accepting that sign and living that reality today.
