Hosea 4-6; Psalm 58; Matthew 17

Peter exclaimed, “Lord, it’s wonderful for us to be here! If you want, I’ll make three shelters as memorials—one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” (Matthew 17.4)

I have been graced to be in many places in my time in the Air Force. Albeit from a hotel room or a quick pit stop of an overnight mission, those places remain with me even now in retirement. But even with being in these places, those places had a purpose connected to them.

I could not remain in that “place.” If it was a nice place, or maybe a not so nice place, I could not stay.

The point and purpose for many of the “here” destinations JESUS takes us to is because the mission He has for us. I have no idea where GOD is taking you, but it would be wise not to get comfortable with “here” when GOD is taking us there. The “there” of why He had us in a season of “here.”

Let me state it plainly: Peter wanted to do something special for the moment due to how wonderful it was, but the next verse directs “listening” instead of what Peter desired to do. Today, I challenge myself, and all of us, wherever we are, that we move from “here” to “hearing” (listening to JESUS) for HIS glory and our good.
