Ecclesiastes 1-3; Psalm 45; 2 Timothy 1

“Everything is meaningless,” says the Teacher, “completely meaningless!” (Ecclesiastes 1:2)

GOD wants us to think about our purpose and direction in life, just as Solomon does here in the book of Ecclesiastes. Having everything, he quickly comes to the reality that without GOD, “everything is meaningless, completely meaningless.”

I have distinct and clear memories of every March getting a pair of my favorite shoes on my birthday. I would be so “hyped” to get them. I am a child of the late 80’s/early 90’s and “hyped” was the word, lol. Yet, once I got the shoes, I could not cause that moment to have a greater meaning.

We can search for purpose in “things,” but without GOD, it is all pointless. GOD is the director of all our lives. HE is the conductor of the symphony of events that culminate in us living out our call and having true meaningful lives. The clamor of different instruments can be heard before the conductor gets into position before the musicians. Once the conductor lifts that wand, all the different sounds unite into a song that is beautiful and meaningful.

Is GOD conducting your life’s affairs? If not, Solomon has some words for you…
