1 Kings 13-14; 2 Chronicles 12; Psalm 47; Titus 2

For God is the King over all the earth.
    Praise him with a psalm.
God reigns above the nations,
sitting on his holy throne. (Psalm 47.7-8)

When we read about the kings of Israel, GOD’s chosen people, it can be a bit “cringe-worthy.” We might find ourselves saying, “Ooooh, man! Why did they do that?!” But it’s important to turn that same question inward and reflect on our own actions.

Kings are men saddled with doing what they can when they can. Well, of course, men who GOD is not leading. But when Rehoboam was firmly established and strong, he abandoned the Law of the Lord, and all Israel followed him in this sin. Because they were unfaithful to the Lord, King Shishak of Egypt came up and attacked Jerusalem in the fifth year of King Rehoboam’s reign. (2 Chronicles 12.1-2)

It’s a constant struggle to remember that we are not much without the KING of Glory. For HE is King over all the earth. HE reigns above the nations sitting on HIS holy throne. The comfort that gives me while typing this is surreal, goosebumps arise. We face so much, but we know GOD is KING. Remind yourself of that today. I have to remind myself frequently. I don’t want to forget and then build my little kingdom and abandon the LORD.

ALL HAIL KING JESUS!
