19 Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. 20 Do not scoff at prophecies, 21 but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. 22 Stay away from every kind of evil. 23 Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. 24 God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful. (1 Thessalonians 5:19-24)
With GOD, often the best way is to “get out of the way.”
Abraham and Sarah come to mind here. A promise was given and patience had to be promoted in their situation to receive rightly what had been righteously given. Well, we know that was not the case. This often reflects how we move and manifest things in our lives.
Do not “stifle (quench) the Holy Spirit” is a command we would do well to follow. Stifle meaning to suffocate or choke out. A interesting play on words due to the Holy Spirit being compared to the wind by JESUS (John 3:8). Let me push my point a bit further. We can only breath one breath a moment. GOD sustains us per breath.
So with the Holy Spirit bringing us life every moment, let us not scoff at prophecies and test everything and hold on to the good. Not let evil take hold of us because we know the peace of GOD given unto us via the cross of JESUS CHRIST is how we are blameless.
-All of this being done by GOD for and in us due to HIS faithfulness. So when we get out of the way, we give space for the grace of GOD to sanctify (make holy) us by HIS power…so I politely say: Move! Move into a position to take possession of what GOD has for you!
