8 If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. 9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. (1 John 1.8-9)
My children often do things, but are reluctant to admit such. This holiday week, all the kids are out of school and I decide to cook some breakfast for them. I make some bacon, but only requested that they leave me some as I went to close out some schoolwork. Well, they ate all the BACON!!! (pray for me)*
Just like my kids violating my word, we often find ourselves not obeying God’s Word. My kids would be fooling themselves to think they did what I requested, just as we would be with God. We struggle with sin, and need help.
God is the one who provides that help. Confessing our sins to Him, He is the one who is faithful and just to forgive us. We must have that forgiveness! Not only does He forgive us, but He also cleanses us from ALL wickedness.
The song says, “everybody plays the fool, there’s no exception to the rule,” but I want us to all to no longer play the fool and confess and be cleansed. Are there sins you keep committing, confess and be cleansed. Are you struggling with admitting that some things are actually a sin, confess and be cleansed. God loves you, and does not want you to live in sin, but receive forgiveness and salvation, Jesus died for that for you, live in that.
