Zechariah 12-14; Psalm 94; 2 John

I am writing to remind you, dear friends, that we should love one another. This is not a new commandment, but one we have had from the beginning. Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning. (2 John 5-6)

Love one Another

I Love You.

Many questions come to mind. Kevin, you do not know me, how can you love me? Why do you love me? If you love me, can you prove this reality by buying me a #4 from Chick-fil-A?

Well, let’s address those questions at another time, and let us deal with command to ‘love one another.’ Jesus commanded us to (John 15). This is why I love you. The prophet Zechariah tells us of one who will be pierced and how the Lord will rule the earth. This is Jesus Christ, and He loved us enough to die for our sins.

When we love one another, we are fulfilling the command given by Jesus, for just as the Father loves Jesus, Jesus has loved us. We are to love one another with the love we have received from Jesus. Confusing? Well, we love others because Jesus loved us when we were unlovable. Let our love for one another be not based on the ‘culture’ but on the ‘command’ of Christ.
