Ezekiel 4-6; Psalm 82; John 2

But his mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” (John 2.5)

Pray

Mother’s have a way of “getting their way.” I do not mean this in a negative sense, but in a simple, honest sense. I still remember my Mom “recommending” that I wear a certain shirt to church one morning when I was kid. Unaware her “recommendation” was her actual direction when I walked out of my room and she said, “why aren’t you wearing the shirt I told you to wear?”

Today we see Mary not recommending to her Son and the world’s Savior, but making a “request.”

Often our prayers come in a form of “request.” Yet, take note of how Mary makes her request to Jesus. She makes it, and then leaves it with Jesus to work out how He sees fit.

This past Sunday Pastor Cody preached about being a “spiritual minimist.” Meaning, we are not spiritually built to carry certain things and we must allow Jesus to take those things. Mary knew Jesus would do what was best and she left it in His hands and walked away. Prayer is saying, God, I trust You, I do not need to linger here after I leave it in Your hands, You love me and will take care of it. I challenge you today, to leave it with Jesus. Be Encouraged!
