We Are: “Leading People to Follow Jesus.”

And we do that by doing 2 things well.

1) Creating environments where everyone belongs.

2) Building relationships because everyone matters.

Vision

“As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him.” Matthew 4:18-20 (emphasis added)

It’s interesting when you read the New Testament, Jesus never told someone they had to get their life together before they followed Him. Because He knew if people followed Him and He allowed them to belong, then they would begin to believe that He was who He claimed to be, the Son of God, who would one day die for their sins.

Our vision for Journey church is that we create environments where everyone knows they belong. Because, as Jesus modeled, it’s okay to belong even if you don’t believe everything right away. We want Journey Church to be a safe place for people to explore who Jesus is, to see what a relationship with Jesus looks like in real life and a place where everyone can have their questions answered.

Values

Evangelism – We will do everything, short of sin, to reach those who are far from God. In order to reach those that no one has reached, we must be willing to do what no one else has done.

Faith – We are big thinking, bet the farm, risk takers.We will never insult God with small thinking or safe living.

Serving – We are not only spiritual consumers, we are also spiritual contributors. The church does not exist for us. We are the church and we exist for the world.

Generosity – We will engage in outrageous acts of generosity towards our community and each other. God is a giver and we are never more like Him than when we give extravagantly.
