Genesis 21-23; Psalm 107; Mark 8

by Faith Brady

Jehovah-Jireh – The Lord will provide.

Even though Sarah laughed, even though everyone around her doubted, even though she was OLD, God kept his promise and provided.  Hagar laughed too.  Sarah didn’t think this was funny.  God provided for Hagar and Ishmael just like he promised.  Issac wasn’t laughing.  He questioned his father and God provided.  It was no laughing matter when Sarah died.  Abraham was a foreigner and had no to place to bury her, God provided.

What makes you think that whatever you NEED God will not provide?

He gave an old woman a child, a child and his mother a well, a son and his father a sacrificial animal, and a husband a place to lay his wife’s body to rest.  God cares about us.  He wants to be a part of everything we do.  He desires to give to us.  Why, WHY do we doubt?  Why do we laugh?  Why, after all he has done do we not believe?

Sin!  Our sin.  It is what keeps us from that trusting relationship.  Now, what our response to his provision needs to be is Psalm 107:1, 8, 15,21, 31, and 43 “let them consider the steadfast love of the Lord.”

Permission granted.
