1 Kings 15; 2 Chronicles 13-14; Titus 3

by Faith Brady

Put on your seatbelt and get out your cowbells!!

So if you know me, you know I love 🏈.  I was a football trainer in high school so I could travel to all the games (on the football bus😉).  You might also know I’m a military brat 🇺🇸and a military spouse ✈️.  These chapters read to me like two teams trash talking each other!  Or the different branches of the military dogging the other.

There comes a time when the countries of Judah and Israel are about to battle.  Israel’s King (coach Jeroboam) thought he had all his X’s and O’s in the perfect place.  He had trained and coached but he had done it all on his own.  Israel’s King (coach Rehoboam) knew he was ONLY a king and that THE King was really in charge so “ when the men of Judah shouted, God defeated Jeroboam and all Israel..” 2 Chronicles 13:15 Way to go cheerleaders!! 📣 Then Asa comes in as the new King and cleans house!  He even takes his mom’s right to be Queen away because she had worshipped a false god.  What his team does have is 580,000 men ready to hit the gridiron!  The opponent was an Ethiopian team of 1,000,000 men!  This was Asa’s battle cry “And Asa cried to the Lord his God, “O Lord, there is none like you to help, between the mighty and the weak. Help us, O Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this multitude. O Lord, you are our God; let not man prevail against you.” So the Lord defeated the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah…” 2 Chronicles 14:11 & 12.

The first win came from the shouts of the men of Judah and the second win came from the cry of Asa.  Why are we as Christians so quiet?  Why are we afraid of what everyone will think? (Have you met everyone?🤔). We, as believers need to get off the bench and get in the game!  I know I am louder at a football game than at church…maybe.  But at work, at home, on social media we need to make our voices known!  We serve a God that sent His Son to DIE for you so that He could have a relationship with you.  That’s something to cheer about!  Come on Christians get excited!  🎶 I’m so excited, 🎶 and I just can’t hide it!!🎶
