Proverbs 22-23; Psalm 117; 1 Thessalonians 1
17 Listen to the words of the wise;
apply your heart to my instruction.
18 For it is good to keep these sayings in your heart
and always ready on your lips.
19 I am teaching you today—yes, you—
so you will trust in the Lord. (Proverbs 22:17-18)
Listen and apply, pretty straight forward. It is good to keep these saying in our hearts and ready on our lips. Why? So we can trust in the LORD.
Well, that was easy, button it up and let’s go home.
Not so fast my friend, for we know that is not as easy as it was for me to type it. Distractions often deny or delay our ability to listen to Biblical wisdom. If we get past that level and are able to have specific time with GOD and HIS word, application seems to be a daunting task.
What are we to do?
We are to understand that we are students in the classroom of CHRIST. JESUS knows our frailties and weaknesses and gives us the strength we must have to listen and apply HIS instructions. The HOLY SPIRIT is residing in us to do just that. The struggle is real, and so is our GOD. That is why we make space in our schedules for the grace GOD has given us. Space to do what? Do this: Listen-Learn-Apply (Repeat)*
Prayer: LORD, we need YOU in special and specific ways to bring the ears of our heart to listen and apply YOUR instructions for our lives. We are tired of DIY soul projects that leave us feeling spent and sullied in our soul. We want YOU! We trust YOU! We love YOU! Help us listen to YOU today. Amen.
