Joshua 1-4; Psalm 143; Luke 14

by Faith Brady

How will they know if we don’t tell them?  If you are my age you remember a time before cell phones (before cordless phones), before computers, and before social media.  In the days of Rahab there was only word of mouth.  “For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites…” Joshua 2:10.

How did they hear?  The Israelites were on the other side of the Jordan.  Someone told someone else and someone else told that other person and then Rahab the prostitute heard.  She wasn’t in church when she heard.  She was living her life, doing her thing and word got to her because someone thought it important enough to talk about.  The sinner you come in contact with is not going to hear about God first in the church.  They are gonna hear about salvation and its great benefits because YOU talk about it.  We must be talking about the amazing things God is doing not how horrible the world is and how it is going to…well you know!

If you are in the word daily God will use it and will bring it to mind for you to share.  If you are memorizing scripture you will have it on your heart and mind to remember when something comes up during your day.  If people were talking to Rahab in her profession I’m confident that God will use you in your profession, you just need to be ready.  Psalm 143:10 “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!”
