33 “But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel after those days,” says the Lord. “I will put my instructions deep within them, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 34 And they will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to teach their relatives, saying, ‘You should know the Lord.’ For everyone, from the least to the greatest, will know me already,” says the Lord. “And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.” (Jeremiah 31.33-34)
Won’t He Do It
Those four words, “won’t He do it” is a sweet reframe I would often hear growing up in a small church in Tyler, Tx. I really didn’t know what He was doing and why, but I could tell from the adults saying it in the congregation they had no doubt that it was going to get done.
God has a way of telling us what He is going to do, doing it, and then coming back around to explain what He has just done.
What is He going to do:
- Make a new covenant with Israel (which will in turn extend to the world)
- Put His instructions deep within our hearts
- Be our God and us His people
- He will forgive our wickedness (never again remember our sins)
O’ what a glorious God we serve, who does what only He can do for those who cannot do it for themselves…ahhhh, I got it, “WON’T HE DO IT!!”
