Isaiah 53-55; Psalm 128; 1 Corinthians 15
Death is Defeated
54 Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”
56 For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. 57 But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:54-57)
It is my belief that we were never to be expected to comprehend or deal with death. Sin entered in and so does the separation from life, God, and hence death.
I often write and give commentary with the other Explore the Bible writers, but today, I want to do something different.
Take a moment and read the above Scripture. Know in that Scripture we have victory over the enemy and the reality of the results of listening to him and losing connection with life.
Jesus has given us victory through His life, so death, where is your sting.
When my son sees a bee, he often dodges and runs. I remind him, “Jonathan, yes he can sting you, but remember, I can end his life, don’t be overly scared of that sting.” (I know some could perish from a sting, but stick with me for my illustration)*
Be Encouraged! We have the Victory in Jesus!
