Jeremiah 1-4; Psalm 130; 2 Corinthians 9

“For my people have done two evil things:
They have abandoned me—
    the fountain of living water.
And they have dug for themselves cracked cisterns
that can hold no water at all! (Jeremiah 2.13)

Can I be honest? I have committed these two evils above. I have abandoned God and tried to do things without Him.

Have you?

O’ how God loves us. He does not leave us in the situations we put ourselves in. Remember yesterday I spoke about rebellion, now we see God laying out what rebellion looks like in plain language. I just think I can do this. Lord, I know you love me, but let me handle this one on my own. Bad move.

We need God like we need water to survive. No matter how that water may come, if it comes from God, it is what we need when we need it. Don’t abandon life looking to find it elsewhere. We have life only in Jesus. He is the life giving water that will spring up eternally for all who are thirsty!
